Shedding
Shedding is a mixed-media painting series inspired by a short novel written by the artist, a story about the three reincarnations of a snake, which become a metaphor for how women are misled and deceived by patriarchal narratives, and ultimately see through them and reclaim their authentic femininity.
Created through an intuitive and process-driven approach, the work combines many layers of oil paint, encaustic, and watercolor on watercolor paper. The creative process itself mirrors this journey of reclamation for the artist—a shift from logic to intuition, from the mind concepts to visceral embodied experience.
